When should I put out my hummingbird feeder and what recipe do you suggest for nectar? For my school project I’m writing about conservation. What’s the best thing we can do to help save birds? We have this bird in our pond we call the Loch Ness Monster because it swims with just its head and neck above the water. What kind of bird is that? When I was in your store I saw pictures of Painted Buntings. I’ve never had one at my feeder before. How do I attract them? I recently moved back from Europe and I see a bird in my pond that appears the same as one I frequently saw in Europe. The French called the bird Poule d’Eau. Do you know what it is called here? I think I see Great Blue Herons occasionally on our pond. My neighbor says there are White Herons here but I’m seeing Sandhill Cranes. I thought Sandhills had red heads. Are there Great blues here in Heron Glenn? I can’t believe I saw a huge owl while I was walking along the bike trail. It was the middle of the day! Isn't it unusual to see them when it’s light out? My dad visited from up north and showed my kids how fun it is to feed ducks bread. Is that advisable? I was told when I was young if I found a baby bird not to touch it because the parents would smell humans on their baby and abandon it. We found a baby that seems to have fallen out of the nest. While in your store I saw some photos of some hummingbirds you were banding. Isn’t that traumatic for the hummers? I just saw what appeared to be a House Finch on my feeder. Do I really have to clean my bird feeders? Doesn’t the rain do that? I live here half the year and spend the summer months up north. My mom always said I shouldn’t start feeding birds unless I was committed to it year round because birds become dependant on feeders. I’d like to feed them but I don’t want to harm them. Any advice?
